Help Net Security - Flooding From The Underground - A Global Threat
The PDF file downloadable from this page is facinating to me. I am an old time mIRC user but have stoped of late. Again, why do these people have to do this. Just to say they can I guess.

Ananova - Bad Santa shocks Disney bosses:

"'Nothing appears sacred, anymore, this is just not in the spirit of Walt Disney,' a source close to Chief Executive Michael Eisner is quoted as saying."

So why did you wait so long to find out what was going on with the script Disney folks. The time to protest and kill the picture is not when it is about to go to the theaters (if it is not there already), but long before that. Are they really upset or is this just a way to get more publicity for a film no one would watch otherwise.

Who would have thought that Microsoft would want to grab Google. It is funny, I remember when Google was not really all that big. Now MS wants to obliviate them... wonder what they want to do with my little consulting company...

InfoWorld: Attack code surfaces for latest Windows holes: November 17, 2003: By : Security
I wondered why my machine told me an update was waiting for me Friday. Gates had promised one patch a month and I had just done mine. Now I know why.
To you people doing this, get a life, go get some air, free yourselves. Why must you make my life misrable so you can prove how good you are.
I tire of this. I blame Microsoft to some degree, but I blame the hackers to a larger degree. They need to realize the problems the cause.

Wonder which Wal-Mart. My wife loves the store. I personally call them the 'Evil Empire' myself. This just proves that they want to step on peoples rights.

Oklahoma's Newschannel 8 - Power Outage Left Thousands In The Dark Thursday Morning
And here is the reason my kids had their snow day today.

No Snow Day
The little ones spent the day at home today on a declared SNOW DAY when there was no snow. How does that work? Well a fire at an electric power substation took out power to the area where the school is (and right be where I live also). This power outage happened early enough and with no information as to when it would be over that they closed the school system. So on a day where the tempature is 50 degrees, kids are having a ball with no school. Of course there is no snow either, which is what when I was growing up made a snow day not only a snow day but FUN.

Comedy on CSPAN2
I have to laugh as I have CSPAN2 on tonight. The Rebublicans are taking over the Senate!! Democrats are blocking the judges, and the Rebublican senator on now (Lidnsey Grahm, SC) even admitted that the Republicans did the same things to the Democrats. And the Democrats said it was unfair when it happened under Clinton's watch. Guess what, it is unfair both ways...who ever is doing it. And further more, it was supposed to be a quick check of character of a man, not a litmus test of a man's politics. Can't we all get along!

Yahoo! News - Sprint Adding TV Service for Cell Phones
First we eliminate the home phone, now we eliminate the Cable Box. Is this idea seem bad just to me?

Yahoo! News - Senate Begins Around-The-Clock Debate on Judges: "'Republicans need to show some backbone,' said David Keating, executive director of Club for Growth, a conservative public advocacy group. 'I'm not sure 30 hours will be enough.' "
And he is right. They will need to fight them not play nice to them.....

Wired News: E-Mail From the Great Beyond
Is it me or does this not make any sense at all. Should you be at peace with all men as Jesus said. Do you need an email from beyond to tell people how you really feel? The time to take care of these things is before you die, not after.

The problem with online classes

I have 48 hrs left to take the 10 answers that I got wrong on a test for Object Oriented Programming and explain why the wrong answers are wrong and the right answer is right. If I succed, I will get 1/2 points back for those questions. This will bring my grade for the test up to a C from an F.
I am taking 4 classes, teach part time, and work full time. I know, it is my choice, but as my wife said, that is a lot of work for 1/2 points. I will get 15 points back. It seems like if I knew why it was wrong in the first place, I would not have got it wrong.
I appreciate the efforts of the instructor to let us redeem ourselves. But it reinforces what I have begun to believe about almost all on-line classes. They are self taught. In a face to face class like I teach, a good instructor would say, 'you guys tanked and on some questions, what did I do wrong?" In online classes it was, "you did not study enough, here is more work for you to do."
I have no solution. I am just part of the problem.

Sophos virus analysis: W32/Dafly-B
For the most part I have stoped reporting on viruses here, I was getting too many little pidly ones and they were taking up time I should have been doing homework et. all. That does not mean that I have not been keeping track, just not reporting them. For some reason, even though this one has a bug in its running I have a feeling that it is going to spread. Time will tell, won't it?

Yahoo! News - Daily Choice Turned Deadly: Children Left on Their Own: "Brooklyn prosecutors argue that no matter what, Ms. Brathwaite should not have left her children, 9-year-old Justina Mason and 1-year-old Justin Brathwaite, alone in a basement apartment in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn, especially children as young and vulnerable as hers. "
And I would have to agree with them. I do not care how responsible they say that this child was. In the end, a 9 year old does not have the skills to care for a 1 year old unsupervised. On the other hand, the woman does not deserve 16 years in prision for trying to take care of her children's finacial needs. She is going to have to deal with the death of those children and the wrong mistake she made in choosing between them and a job, a choice I would not be sure I would have made differently if I had to make it myself.
Let the critics come out of the high dollar homes and go take care of the children instead of sending her to jail.
